VADRÓZSA was formed as a Calgary Centennial Project in 1974. Originally, the group was formed as part of the Hungarian Veteran’s Association, Calgary Chapter. In 1978, the dance group became an independent chartered organization, deciding to use the name VADRÓZSA, meaning Wildrose, Alberta’s flower. Calgary performances include several appearances for the Calgary Folk Arts Council, such as Canada Day, Heritage Day, WinterFest, and various others. The Group has danced for a variety of weddings, socials, dinners, for Senior Citizens and school functions. Vadrózsa has also enjoyed performing at the many Hungarian celebrations throughout the years.
