More than 150,000 Canadians of Hungarian origin live in the larger cities of Canada, especially in Toronto, Montreal and throughout southern Ontario. Hungarians have been living in Canada since the beginning of the twentieth century when they first settled in rural areas of the western provinces. The Canadian Hungarian Journal & Community Archives aims to provide information about the present and past activities of the Hungarian communities of Canada. The purpose of this website is twofold. Firstly, the Journal intends to provide current information on Hungarian churches, community organizations and Hungarian schools operating across Canada. Additionally, the Journal publishes articles on upcoming events in Canada’s Hungarian communities as well as other news of significance to Hungarians living in Canada.
