In the fall of 1998, the Forrás Chamber Ensemble and the Vancouver Hungarian Folk Dance Ensemble amalgemated to form the Forrás Folk Ensemble. The group consists of over 30 dancers and 6 musicians. It is a self-supported registered society that practices weekly in Vancouver, BC. The purpose of the Ensemble is the acquisition, preservation and broad popularization of the folk music and dance heritage of Hungary and Transylvania. It accomplishes this through its performances, workshops, táncház, and research. The Ensemble prides itself in the authenticity of its dances, music and costumes.
