Volánbusz Coach Transport

Volánbusz operates most of the international and domestic coaches from Budapest, and also the regional lines and the ones traversing the agglomeration. There are coaches to 13 different countries (Austria, Belgium, Chec Republic, Croatia, Danmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Netherlands, Serbia and Montenegro, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland) from Népliget station, but our partners also provide transport to other countries and cities (Sofia, Belgrad, Manchester) not included in the above list. Transfers are available to Spain from Milan, to Portugal and Southern-France from Vienna, to Great Britain's 75 cities from London, to Vilnius fom Vienna and Oslo from Göteborg. Volánbusz operates 500 domestic distance coaches to 100 cities of the country daily, creating a direct link between 17 counties and the most important regions and resorts of the country and Budapest. During the day there are coaches in every hour or more often in the direction of Eger, Salgótarján, Gyöngyös, Jászberény, Kecskemét, Székesfehérvár, Veszprém, Tatabánya and Gyõr, many lines go to the Mátra, the great plain, lake Balaton or other destinations.

Budapest Transport Limited - BKV

BKV Ltd. operates 5 branches (bus, tram, metro and underground, suburban railway, trolley bus) in an integrated system. Moreover it operates a cogwheel railway and a funicular railway as well, which has mainly touristic importance. BKV Ltd. serves almost 1.4 billion passengers, out of these the bus branch takes 41%, the tram 26 %, the metro and underground 22 %, the suburban railway 5% and the trolleybus branch 6 %. The site offers a route planner, information about the company, tickets and passes, ticket offices schedules and night services etc.

Budapest Transport Association

BKSZ Budapest Transport Association targets the suburban area of Budapest, similar to transport systems in place for many years in Western European regions and urban areas. Their goal is to provide viable solutions to public transport and a reduction of the well-known unfavourable effects of motorisation.

MÁV Nostalgia Ltd. - Nostalgic Railway Trips

The main activity of MÁV NOSTALGIA Ltd. is the organisation of nostalgic railway trips on restored vintage trains: nearly 50 different types of vehicles, all of historic interest, and some well known throughout Europe. They are available for hire both for domestic use and international travel. Tourist programmes start from Budapest and travel to the most popular tourist centres around the country. Steam trains are in regular daily service around Lake Balaton in the high season.

Győr-Sopron-Ebenfurt Railways (GYSEV)

The Győr-Sopron-Ebenfurt Railway Corp. (GYSEV Corp.) is a company with 134 years of operational background. After the border revisions following World War the State of Austria, by its announcement of 1923 entered the concession of GYSEV Corp., simultaneously issuing a separate concession for the lines of GYSEV on Austrian territory as an Austrian private company. This state of the company hasn't change since then, which means that GYSEV Corp. is a unified company with a seat in Sopron that runs two, from the point of ownership, economy and accounting system individual enterprises operating on the territory of two states according to the regulations of the respective countries. The main activity of GYSEV Corp. is the management of railway passenger and goods traffic between the stations Győr and Ebenfurt, Sopron and Szombathely, as well as between the stations Fertőszentmiklós and Neusiedl am See on the line of the Fertő Lakeland Railway Corporation.

Children's Railway - Budapest

The Children's Railway is located in the west of the city of Budapest, the capital city of Hungary. Its eleven-kilometre-long, narrow gauge line runs through the woods of the hills of the city on the Buda side. Children aged 10 to 14 control the traffic and commercial services provided but strictly according to regulations of any other railway line of the State Railways of Hungary (MÁV Rt). The engines are driven by adult engineers, and children on duty, are continuously supervised by adult railway employees. Apart from that, children do their jobs, operate the switches and signals, print tickets and keep passengers informed, on their own. The railway operates throughout the year, except for Mondays from September to April. Trains run from 9 o'clock in the morning until 5 o'clock in the winter and until 7 o'clock in the summer. The site is also available in Russian and Danish languages.

Eger-Putnok railway line

Perhaps the most beautiful railway line of Hungary connnects Eger city with Putnok in Sajó river's walley which connects many small villages and the region's most popular exursion area, Szilvásvárad. The panorama of Eger, the little gardens of Almár and the rocks and tunnels of Szarvaskő, the enormous depths of Ladány-walley, the barren hills and wonderful forests give a unique experience for travellers.
